Anthony DeRusso’s connection to real estate began long before it became his profession. Growing up in New York’s Capital Region during the 1990s, Anthony developed an early fascination with homes, architecture and community. While most children passed by supermarket publication racks unnoticed, he found himself drawn to broker catalogs, for sale by owner publications and local real estate magazines, studying floor plans, neighborhoods and architectural styles from a remarkably young age. That passion only deepened during the construction boom of the early 2000s, when Anthony spent countless afternoons exploring emerging neighborhoods throughout Loudonville, Latham, Niskayuna and the surrounding Capital Region. He became captivated not only by exceptional new construction and thoughtfully planned developments, but also by the timeless character and craftsmanship found in historic homes. To this day, his appreciation for both modern luxury residences and architecturally significant older homes continues to shape his perspective and approach to real estate. Originally licensed in 2009 immediately following high school, Anthony entered the profession with a level of hands on experience uncommon for his age. At just 18 years old, he became involved in the ownership and operation of multi family and mixed use investment properties, providing him with an early foundation in property management, tenant relations, apartment renovations and commercial leasing. Over the years, Anthony expanded his expertise through commercial real estate and large scale property management. He worked within a commercial brokerage environment where he focused heavily on office operations and leasing administration, intentionally immersing himself in the structure and language of commercial real estate transactions. He later went on to manage approximately 500,000 square feet of residential, commercial, office, medical and mixed use property throughout the Capital Region for a prominent local developer. While his experience has made him exceptionally well rounded across multiple sectors of real estate, Anthony ultimately found his true professional home in residential representation. For him, real estate has always been deeply personal. He believes the most rewarding part of the profession is guiding clients through the evolving chapters of their lives — from the excitement of a first home purchase, to growing families and lifestyle transitions, to eventual downsizing and everything in between. Anthony joined Vera Cohen Realty after what he describes as an immediate and natural connection with the brokerage’s culture, values and elevated approach to client service. He first met broker Vera Cohen while accompanying a seasoned Capital Region agent on an annual brokerage trip to Cabo San Lucas. What began as a simple introduction quickly evolved into a strong alignment with the firm’s philosophy, professionalism and thoughtfully curated brand. Today, Anthony is known for delivering a refined, highly personalized approach to real estate throughout New York’s Capital Region. His clients value not only his market knowledge and negotiation skills, but also his understanding of architecture, presentation, lifestyle positioning and long term value.
