Melanie Herring is a highly experienced Associate Broker with a diverse background that sets her apart as a leader in the real estate industry. Born in upstate New York and raised in the Richmond Metro area, she brings deep local expertise and a strong commitment to serving her community. Before launching her real estate career 22 years ago, Melanie gained valuable experience across multiple industries. As an Airfield Firefighter in the United States Marine Corps, she served with distinction, including deployment to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. Her post-military career included roles in fitness instruction, sales management, consumer affairs, and legal assistance. She also played a key role in launching a service department for HSS at Hohner USA, while managing major sales accounts, and product imports—all the combined are a testament to her adaptability. Since becoming a Realtor® in 2004, Melanie has built a strong reputation in both resale and new construction markets. A recognized specialist in new construction sales, she was instrumental in establishing one of Richmond’s top builders and has collaborated with leading local and national builders and developers. Her expertise is reflected in numerous sales production awards and a track record of successfully guiding buyers and sellers through the region’s evolving real estate landscape. Committed to professional development, Melanie has earned industry designations such as Military Relocation Professional (MRP), Short Sale & Foreclosure Specialist (SFR), and At Home with Diversity. She is a graduate of the RAR Leadership Development Academy (Class of 2023) and a 3-time Circle of Excellence Honoree (2023, 2024, and 2025) for her dedication to education, community service, and professional volunteerism. She actively contributes to the industry through leadership roles on multiple committees, including the Governmental Affairs and the Programs committees at the Richmond Association, the Risk Management Committee for Virginia Realtors, and her recent appointment to the Professional Standards Committee in 2024.
